January 2025 Creativity Challenge

I’ve been invited to talk at Translate Cluj 2025. I’ve decided to talk about creating a regular creativity practice. For the purposes of that presentation, I have taken on a creativity challenge. For the month of January 2025, I am committing to getting creative every single day. This means trying my hand at new and old things, redefining creativity and yes, probably failing miserably for your entertainment, as I will be documenting my creative shenanigans.

The rules are simple: produce something every day – a drawing, a poem, a new dish, an essay, choreography, designs for an elaborate cat tree, a training video, a vocal warmup… Anything goes! As long as you can perceive or interact with it in any way.

Now, I don’t know where this will lead. I don’t know if anything will come of it. I’m pretty sure most of my “products” will absolutely suck. But I am hoping that this experiment, this act of doing for the sake of doing, will create its own momentum and take shape. I shall present my findings and at least some of my results. Best case scenario is I inspire some of you to take on a more active approach to creativity. At the very least you’ll get a good chuckle.

This whole website is the creative offering of Day 5. You’ll find dedicated posts for each day of the challenge, and who knows? Maybe I’ll turn this into a regular thing and post my musings as blog entries.

Enjoy!
